The Black Dragon whispers . . .
"The dead are ill treated by western society. You let them go, with little honor paid to them, and once they are dead, you pay them no heed. I am one of the dead you ignore, little brother, and I am not amused. Awaken, look around you, at the shadows growing taller as the age of corruption tears down all of our shining works, decays all that we would grow in our gardens. Wake up to the games of power that these Kindred play. And ask yourself - why don't they hunt in Chinatown? Why does the air in Chinatown hold a hint of incense, why does the ground here still sometimes shake and the earth tremble to the roar of the Great Dragon? You must seek these answers, little brother, you must learn to ride the Dragon and dance with me among the shades or the coming Apocalypse will carry you off in its storm while you sleep, dreaming of computer age toys . . ."
Setting:
Chinatown in Boston, Japan and China.
Story:
Your Wu came over to America approximately a decade ago and quickly established its influence and power base in Chinatown, Boston. After some battles with the local Kindred, a wary truce was declared - they do not hunt in Chinatown, and thus you do not go out of your way to harm them, although friction sometimes occurs. The Ventrue in particular are very nervous about our presence - especially since our catspaws took over several Boston bank chains; these are now run by a huge financial corporation based in Tokyo. Another Tokyo corporation has also taken over some of the local technology companies - this makes the Kindred nervous, although we have taken no major action against them at this time. Attempts have been made by the Kindred to control us via blood bonding . . . all of these attempts have failed, which makes them downright scared.
Of great importance to you are the traditions of the Middle Kingdom - your Wu has begun re-educating the oriental citizens of Boston, in hopes of re-connecting them to the Middle Kingdom.
Your Wu leader, the Black Dragon, is beautiful, eerie . . . at times extremely unnerving and even terrifying. She is a creature of legend - you are probably unsure of how old she is, but old enough to achieve the status of mandarin, and to have myriad legends about her in china and japan. She is (in?)famous enough that the Kindred have even heard some of the stories about her, which spook them pretty hard core.
Characters/Players:
You will be playing an Quei-Jin who has been around for at least a century or two. All players will be part of the same Wu. (similar to a Sabbat pack - it is a Quei-Jin family of sorts) I am seeking experienced roll players only - since Kindred of the East can get pretty complex, it might be a bit much for a newbie, but if you are a newbie and really want to play, send my a character concept anyway and we can discuss it.
Tips:
You are oriental. You died, feeling that there were karmic debts that you had left to play. You came back to pay them. You spent time in Hell on the way back, and all the superficial elements of your previous life were torn away while you screamed in terror and agony. You tore the veil and forced the "second breath" into your body. You are hungry. And some of these white devils offend your sense of honor and dignity - these western kindred are like dogs, fighting over scraps in the gutter, with mud clinging to their fur, never noticing as the Gates of Hell open and the demon armies bear down on them.
Interaction with Other Creatures:
You don't much like the Kindred, but the time is not ripe for any hostilities, so you sometimes attend their parties, their clubs, nod and smile in inscrutable oriental fashion. Your Wu leader, the Black Dragon, has taught you to respect and be kind to wraiths. You respect the changelings and shape shifters, although you may make some of them nervous. You get along with some of the mages and may even work with them on occasion.
Please send your character concept to <catling@panix.com> - once it is approved, we can discuss the stats.
