Seven Killed in Belmont House Blast
By GREG SMITH
Associated Press Writer
BELMONT, Mass (AP) A house exploded during a party Monday evening,
killing at least seven people and leaving ``just a hole in the ground,''
the sheriff said.
Six other people were taken to hospitals in Boston, and three were in
critical condition.
The blast destroyed the expensive ranch-style home and destroyed cars
parked out front. Hours after the explosion, light smoke was still coming
from the charred debris.
``There's just a hole in the ground,'' Suffolk County Sheriff Ron George
said. ``When I got here, the house was gone.''
George said the dead were found in the basement.
The cause of the explosion was unknown. George said a propane tank behind
the house was still intact.
Maria Reif, who lives two blocks away, said she heard the explosion.
``I was sitting on my front steps and I heard a boom and I saw fire shoot
up,'' she said.
IN GAME: Ed becomes Burko. We fake his death with the kid's leg. I think
there is a sword lesson for Ryan and Nic. Rachel gets frustrated and goes
off on a vision quest. Hence, the beginning of the end for her.

TEACHER DIES IN CHEMICAL ACCIDENT
Boston University Academy chemistry teacher Greta Grey was found dead in
her classroom on the morning of September 8, 1999, the first day of
school. She was found by fellow teacher Dawn Hardin, about half an hour
before the children were due to arrive for the first class. Ms. Grey was
found with severe chemical burns on her face and in her lungs apparently
caused by inhaling toxic gases released from a demonstration she was
trying to prepare. John Epstien, science department chair, at BUA
explained that the reaction that Ms. Grey was trying to prepare would have
been perfectly safe if she had used chemicals of the proper strength. For
some reason she used an acid that was over a thousand times stronger than
she should have. The resulting mixture, instead of turning from clear to
pink, as it should have, exploded in her face.
Mr. Epstein told us that, "the loss of Ms. Grey is a a terrible loss to
the department. She was a brilliant, innovative teacher who was constantly
challenging the students." Greta Grey is survived by her mother, father
and three siblings. A memorial service will be held at Boston
University's Walsh chapel on Friday at 10 AM.
IN GAME: We did the connection web during this session. Rachel and Ryan
also share their visions, leading us to start seriously plotting to do
something about Lyle, the Pru and the Hancock.

IN GAME: Preparing for Lyle. Preparing for the buildings in Boston. Ryan
and Nic visit Bob and contract to buy explosives for 45 pounds of gold.
Much vulgar magic later, they deliver gold "bricks".

Last Night's news on the 11 o'clock TV news:
ANNOUNCER: A mysterious fire tonight consumed a residential
house in Cambridge. We go now to a live report...
[VIDEO of smoldering timbers and a fallen in roof, a police line
and several fire trucks nearby, one hosing down the still-glowing
embers of the house. In the foreground a reporter stands with a
microphone.]
REPORTER: Fire officials don't know yet what caused this fire,
but we do know that the entire family of five perished in the
flames. [STRETECHER with a covered shape rolls past behind him,
pushed by an EMT.] Officials say that the houses in this area
typically have good wiring, and have found no signs of kitchen
fire yet, but that details will have to wait for a forensics
investigation. The fire was called in by a neighbor, who awoke
to the smell of smoke coming through her bedroom window. Despite
the fire station being located not half a mile away, a traffic
accident prevented the trucks from arriving for long enough for
the house to burn out of control. Fire fighters hosed down houses
around it to prevent spreading, and succeeded in carrying out only
five bodies, apparantly killed by smoke inhalation in their bedrooms.
Back to you, Jim...

ANNOUNCER: Thanks, Hal. [to camera, SADLY] We'll keep you updated to
this tradgedy as details come in. [PAUSES, SMILES happily] Next on Fox
News: Puppies, Puppies, Puppies! Just after this commercial break from
a word from our sponsor, Pentex Inc., a renovated animal shelter brings
together young and old in Roxbury...
On the next morning's 7 o'clock news, and all over the radio, follow up
reports that forensics found no accelerants or other signs of usual
arson, but no explanation for the fire, either. Fire Officials continue
to investigate this Senseless Tradegdy...
IN GAME: Ryan does his weaving and blood thing as the rest of us go over
to Lyle's place and begin our action. Nic shoots him, Leigh prepares to
be invaded. Rachel and Burko play with fire. In the end, it is Ryan
that kills him with fate's scissors. We blow up Lyle and most
of Cambridgeport. The house that blew up was seen as a call to action.

Week of Oct 10
IN GAME: The return of the changelings. Night of drunken
debauchery for everyone but Eloquin and Rachel. The sex bomb rote was
developed and tested at Axis. Eloquin bites off more than she can chew
when she asks Rachel to show her what she sees. It is a night of
recovery.
We also find out that something like 60 people died in the fires in
Cambridgeport and almost 1% of Cambridge's population is now homeless. We
did not, however, blow up the Changeling court in the 15 square blocks of
Cambridgeport we blew up.

Week of October 17
IN GAME: ML and Tennyson show up to aid in the party at the Pru. We spend
much time argueing about a plan but finally just decide to go with the
flow. It usually works. We split up again. Ryan does his weaving, Rachel
goes in umbrally, the changelings have a back door through the 12th floor
and an invisible Burko with Nic and Leigh go through the front door. Once
inside, the party magically regroups. Everything is metal walkways. We
are attacked by an alien as we try and get to the place that Nic says will
do the most damage. Rachel realizes what she is becoming. The bomb is set
and everyone runs away except Rachel who stays behind and takes the
explosion upwards orders of magnitudes. As she liberates the fire spirits
of Boston and Cambridge, the fearless party races out of the flames like
the Millenium Falcon dashing out of the Death Star. Burko is quick enough
to isolate the worst of the damage that the nuclear reactor did when it
blew to MIT campus, but the city remains a smoldering ruins.
