The Twilight War: Regrets of the Living

The game began with Leigh, Ryan and Ali returning from their camping
trip in the Berkshires. Unlike the trip out, there were no police
lines for Ali to bully her way through. When they arrived at the
Cabal house, they found an oddly altered Burko sitting on the front
steps and the bars were still on the basement and second story
windows.

Burko, apparently, had aged about 4 years in the four days that Leigh,
Ryan and Ali had been gone. Lucky boy was jumping into puberty.

Ryan went in the house and discovered that the basement door was
altered as well, and locked. He proceeded to pick the lock and go
downstairs where he was deterred by a large sounding man who called
himself Edwards. He came back upstairs. Meanwhile, Burko had looked
in one of the basement windows and had seen a younger looking Niccolo
in what appeared to be a cell in a psychiatric ward. He was laying
on a bed unconscious, with obvious tazer burns on his lower back.

There were various discussions about what to do about Nic in Quiet.
Ryan went off to his hooks, Burko tried to break in, and Ali left to
go get her "on duty" stuff as well as a hypospray with pricarione[1]
in it.

After a few hours, Ali returned in her suit with her multipurpose badge
and with a couple of lab coats. She and Leigh prepared to go
downstairs as Dr. Jones and her intern Dr. Corcoran, from the
Department of Social Services. They realized that none of them could
open the locked door so Burko broke it. Edwards cames up to greet
them.

Ali bulled her and Leigh through the "security", downstairs and
into Nic's cell. They are followed by Burko who proceeded to hang out
with the guards and watch CNN (I think.)

Leigh negated some of the sedatives in Nic's bloodstream and brought
him to consciousness. She then proceeded to talk to him - at first
trying to be Leigh and then switching to Dr. Corcoran - about his rage
and so on. Ali stood in the corner and listened, occasionaly
interjecting suggestions but letting Leigh do the talking.

While they were talking, Nic's doctor arrived and pulls Leigh and Ali
out of the cell away from his Very Dangerous patient. Ali nailed him
with pricarione and he dissappeared. Ali and Leigh are now locked out
of the cell. Ali goes back down the hall to the guards and "persuaded"
them to give her the key to the cell. She went back and lets Leigh
back in and the discussion continued.

In the discussion, young Nic explained that he feels a rage and that he
must destroy some people because they are bad. That is what landed
him here to start with. He also said that he is being used as an
experiment and different drugs are being tested on him. He had gotten
to a point where he has given up hope on ever getting out. "Drs."
Jones and Corcoran realize that they need to show him some of that
hope so Leigh works on that.

It comes out that a nurse named O'Brian is particularly responcible
for abusing young Nic. O'Brian comes on duty partway through the
discussion. Ali talked to him and chased him off. He went away. Ali
then struck on the idea of "transferring" Nic to a different
institution, away from the bad people. She told Leigh and Leigh
convinced Nic that they are going to get him out of here. Ali
proceeded to bull her way through the transfer process. They switched
him to a gurney and rolled him away.

The basement had begun to change back into a basement - the strength
of the quiet is fading, or so it seems. (Alarmingly there was a smell
of dead things in there. There is some concern that all the patients
who Leigh and Ryan abandoned when they went on their vacation wound up
down here...) O'Brian tried to deter them from leaving and just as Ali
was about sick of him and ready to take more Drastic Measures, he
dissappeared too. Ali and Leigh lugged Nic's gurney upstairs and once
they are through the door the gurney dissappears and they were
carrying Nic - back to his regular age - by the ankles and shoulders.

There was some breif discussion in which Nic fails to kill Ali for
being in his house and even was nice to her. Leigh and Nic discussed
breifly what the "vision" was about.

Now, what is by and large unknown to the party is that Ryan was up on
his hooks reweaving Nic's thread. As each person dissappeared and as
the quiet appeared to fade, Ryan was weaving those threads away from
Nic and repairing some aspects him in a way that is going to
absolutely stimey Ali when and if she notices it. He finished by
weaving the bars on the windows away and putting them on the Cambridge
city police cheif's office, causing him to momentarily wonder when he
had them installed.

[1] pricarione : a drug (from Ali's BG) that numbs extraordinary
senses that Enlightened beings have. Often used in treating APD
patients. Side effects include drowsiness and suggestibility. Can
not be used long term.
