The Twilight War: Ryan - Water for the Dead.

I woke up on a drenched pillow.
I could feel Leigh to one side of my and Carolyn to the other, but I had no idea what had happened.
I stood hesitantly and fetched my cane, making my way down stairs as I put the dark glasses over my eyes and letting the cane fall open.
Murmers filled the downstairs where some of the wounded where.
"that's him...the blind one"
Even in the midst of the apocalypse the wounded and dying still pitied the blind man...
but that's only because they don't know it's my fault.

*tak**tak**tak*
The cane raps against the sidewalk, and I hear the dead around me.
My dead.
My weight and onus.
If the weave had been stronger I could have contained the explosion at the prudential. I could have stoped rachel.
If I had been able to kill her when I saw the inconsistancy when I saw the taint there....

"Are the men bothering you mister?" a small childs voice where there should be no-one.
"No..they never bother me, not anymore. I'm here for them now..."

More tears stream from under my glasses as the cane rings across the sidewalk.
*tak**tak**tak*
"that poor man..." pity from the damned.
and still I cry.

more water for my dead.
