Mage: Intersession - Confession
"rolling dice and seeming queer
bastard love a sick affair
let see what new disease you'll fetch
i mean that fucking you is strange and adored by me throughout
oh it's you again blessing you with every kiss
so precious you know this hate of mine exploded
i'm so deranged you know i will never be the same"
Ryan sat quietly on the hard wooden bench, the walls tight around him with
cloautrophobic comfort, like the all too clinging embrace of a mothers
arms. The door was shut, and the whole of the confessional little bigger
than a phone booth. Behind the iron grille a curtain was drawn.
Ryan's mind cast out and examind the flow of the tapestry around him,
there was Father Joseph's in the confessional next to him, and no one else
nearby.
"Forgive me father, for I have sinned." Ryan's voice was quiet and
hushed.
"It's been..." Ryan paused, "A long time since my last confession and I've
seen and done terrible things."
"I've looked for the face of God in a syringe, and I've sought him in the
carnel pleasures of another mans body. I've stolen and lied, I hurt others
and decived more then I can begin to remember. I've known men and women,
I've seen gods and demons. Yet none of these are the sins I'm here to tell
you about...
"The One you serve, he doesn't talk to me, so I guess in fact I have no
sins to repent.. so I don't know why I'm here really. I suppose I wanted
to tell you about Ben. I tried father..I really did.
"He was an amazing man, he ran into the flames headless of the danger to
himself. His swords flashed and he cut down several of the creatures
before he finally fell to one of them attacking his back. That's when I
got involved..
"I knocked it from him and began beating it. It was like nothind I had
ever really seen before, father. It was hideous. Two jackel heads,
tentacles...It had torn Ben's arm off, though I didn't know it then, and
such a rage filled me..
"After beating on it with my hands one of my assocaites got a tire iron to
me..that was the end of it. But when I tried to save Ben he told me to let
him die, to leave him there that he wasn't ment to live..
"At first I balked, but int he end I walked away and let him pass on...
Tears were rolling down Ryan's face. Tears he had not let himself shed
before the others. Water for the dead, he thought briefly, tears for a man
he didn't really know.
Quietly a comforting voice came through the grille. "The One knows you
have done your best and it's will is not ours to understand. Thank you
Ryan.."
As he steped out of the booth, whiping at his face he took the cross off
and held it out to Father Joseph. "This is your's I belive..."
